Sabal Shores Area Stormwater Improvement- Pre-design Services - H&H Modeling
Client: Collier County Year: 2020 About: The Sabal Shores area near Bayshore Drive in east Naples is a neighborhood without engineered stormwater management facilities and experiences occasional flooding during storm events. Thus, Lago was contracted to conduct a hydrologic-hydraulic modeling assessment of the area. |
Lago developed a detailed ICPR model for the area that consisted of 68 subbasins and 127 weirs to represent the overland flow between basins. The 27 pipes in the model considered the conveyance reduction due to presence of sediment as noted during a field visit. Hurricane Irma rainfall and tidal conditions, as well as 10- and 25-year design storm rainfall was applied in the existing conditions model. The model was then used to evaluate 3 proposed flood improvement scenarios.

Outcome:
Lago produced flood inundation maps and flood extend tables to illustrate the benefit of the proposed projects. A cost estimation for the different projects was also provided. This evaluation will be used by the County Staff to decide about the flood improvement project to implement for the area. |
